About the role

The Platform Manager is accountable to the program manager for the quality and effectiveness of the project management services being provided by the Integrated Project Team (IPT). Acting as the single point of contact for their allocated platform, the platform manager will provide planning and oversight throughout the EMP lifecycle, ensuring that External Maintenance Period (EMP) objectives can be achieved through sufficient support within the constraints and resources available.

  • The Platform Manager will keep project members informed through preparation and periodic update of the Project Management Plan (PMP), as well as completion of Project Executive Board (PEB) project status reports throughout the EMP
  • Critically the platform manager is the custodian of the client’s asset ensuring all stakeholders are fully informed and agreed to the maintenance plans to be enacted on the vessels
  • Of most importance is the engagement and alignment between stakeholders, in particular the ship staff, project office and internal teams to achieve asset availability to meet the client’s operational needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to ensure interwoven relationships are maintained and daily communication of asset reliability is provided


Management

  • Lead the ship delivery IPT for a designated platform
  • Manage activities of the project to meet the constraints, guidance and milestones as set out in the approved plan
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with the ship to ensure that the platform manager is the first point of call for all ship sustainment issues
  • Facilitate the engagement of Commonwealth Concurrent Work (CCW) nominated contractors to ensure required services during an availability
  • Manage Urgent Defect (URDEF) tasking's for designated platform 
  • Approve task additions and growth to the Main Work List (MWL) for execution within the designated EMP
  • Manage the PIR process and performance for the designated platform 
  • Manage the Key Date Schedule (KDS) and engage stakeholders to ensure the successful planning and execution of availabilities.


About you

Essential

  • Technical trade (or higher) qualifications
  • Strong project management, time management and organisational skills
  • Construction induction card (white card)
  • Ability to effectively lead an Integrated Project Team and deliver ‘best practice’ outcomes
  • Proven ability to make robust judgements coupled with superior problem-solving skills
  • Ability to motivate and mentor to meet customer expectations
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Lead and contribute to a “Safety First” culture through leadership and participation in HSE activities and initiatives
  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
  • MUST be an Australian Citizen
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)


Desirable

  • Technical knowledge of warship major platform systems
  • Experience managing complex maritime projects delivered through IPTs
