ACM Healthcare is working with a government organisation and is interested in speaking with Psychologists & Social workers who have an interest in providing clinical support and service quality assurance to ex-military personnel and their families.
Typical duties of the Community & Peer Advisor will include:
- Identify as being a person with lived experience of mental health issues and ADF service (as an ex-service member and/or partner/ex-partner/widow/widower/carer) for the purpose of community education.
- Co-facilitate relevant group programs for service consumers and providers.
- Role model behaviours which promote mental health recovery and wellness for the purpose of community and stakeholder education and engagement.
- Collaborate with a network of local and geographically dispersed Community and Peer Advisors and Community Engagement Coordinators, including participating in and contributing to a peer work Community of Practice.
- Work systemically with key internal and external stakeholders to influence a recovery approach to service delivery for vulnerable or at-risk veteran and defence force communities and families.
- Undertake relevant training and professional development, including completion of a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work; and participate in regular supervision, case conferencing and case review meetings.
- Participate in internal and external meetings as directed. Where appropriate, share knowledge gained through one’s relevant lived experience and recovery to promote awareness, understanding and service improvement.
- Support an environment that encourages a willingness to adopt participative workplace practices in line with policies of WHS, Workplace Diversity and the Australian Public Service Values, Employment Principles and the APS Code of Conduct.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Lived experience of mental health issues and ADF service, as either an ex-ADF member or partner/carer of a current serving or ex-ADF member (spouse, ex-partner or widow/widower). Ability to respectfully and effectively utilise this experience to promote a recovery-focused approach, support others and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to commence the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Check/Clearance.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
