You are passionate about providing health services and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support delivery of the highest standard of care to patients About the Role Reporting to the Serco Regional Account Manager the MATRS Clinician is responsible for the clinical assessment, triage and provision of medical advice to Eligible Personnel via the 1800 IMSICK and All Hours Support Line (ASL) 24-hour telephone service. MATRS Clinicians shall be supported by contemporary clinical decision support tools and standard scripting as approved by the Commonwealth and in accordance with applicable professional standards, legislation and Defence Policies and Procedures. To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • recent experience at the level required for the position
  • demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation and externally with other health care professionals
  • work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team with a commitment to workplace initiatives to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality care to patients
  • current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Extensive full-time (or part-time equivalent) Post Graduate Experience in an Acute Health Care Setting within the last 5 years
  • recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA
  • current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001) certification
  • demonstrated experience and competency with or without a qualification in venepuncture and cannulation
  • appropriate Police and Working with Children or Working with Vulnerable People Checks in accordance with the legislative and regulatory requirements of the jurisdiction in which MATRS is to be provided
  • the MATRS clinician, who may answer calls to the ASL, shall have undertaken Mental Health Risk Assessment Training or an alternative best practice model as approved by the Commonwealth.
  • Australian Baseline Security Clearance prior to commencing work on a Defence base
  • induction training for working in a Defence environment including security, equity and diversity, fraud and ethics, use of DeHS and WHS training
Ongoing minimum mandatory criteria:
  • Defence environment refresher training and ongoing continuing professional development relevant to the position, in accordance with AHPRA, and without impacting the delivery of the Services
  • current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA;
  • current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001) certification
  • demonstrated experience and competency with or without a qualification in venepuncture and cannulation
