Software Engineer - Firmware

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA), one of the country's leading and preferred defence contractors, is now recruiting for the position of Software Engineer on the Currawong Program, working between our Ann St office and our Wacol facility.

The Software Engineer will develop software and firmware for communications equipment and its associated testing.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing software and firmware for equipment.

  • Developing test software.

  • Testing and troubleshooting equipment functionality.

  • Working closely and collaboratively with colleagues, customer and supplier stakeholders to successfully deliver a complex innovative solution to the Australian Army

To be successful you will have:

Essential Skills

  • Familiar with Agile Software Development Methods

  • Experience in software configuration management, and shared software repository systems (GIT SVN etc)

  • Experience in development of software/firmware in the following programming languages,

  • Experienced in the use of Linux and development of software within Linux based SDKs and use of the open source compiler GCC

Desirable skills

  • Proficient in the use of GIT software version control system

  • Experience in development of software in the following programming languages,

  • Experience in development of firmware for embedded systems

  • Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics and implementing firmware based on these schematics

  • Experience in development of firmware in C for ARM based microcontrollers

  • Experience in the development of drivers for Linux (Fedora)
